Introducing Microsoft Teams for Students

Announcing Teams for Academics

The Division of Information Technology is pleased to announce the launch of Microsoft Teams for students. This launch will provide you an additional option to engage with your students, enable file collaboration, and enhance communications.

Noteworthy features include:

  • The ability to see up to 49 people on screen at once.

  • Real time closed captioning for live conversations.

  • Phone conferencing options for all participants (ideal for students on limited bandwidth).

Two Options - One Great Platform

There are two paths for you to use Microsoft Teams with your classes:

  • Native integration with Blackboard - this allows you to create video conferencing rooms quickly and easily, right within Blackboard Learn.

  • Full Teams experience – this is a more robust option providing you with all the features of Microsoft Teams, including file collaboration, asynchronous chat, and more.

For instructions on how to get started, what you can expect, and how to get the most out of Teams, check out the launch intranet site.

Getting Help

We are excited to see what you can do with Teams in your classes and are here to support you.  If you need any help, please feel free to reach out to your local instructional designer or contact the help desk at 330-672-4357. If you would like training, we are offering several live (virtual) options.  Sign up at training.kent.edu.

Special Thanks

Lastly, we would like to relay a special thank you to the University Council of Technology and our faculty pilot group for their assistance in providing guidance and feedback with deployment of this platform.
