LaunchNET presents the 2019 IDEA OLYMPICS

Have a great idea for a new product, service, app, or way to solve a problem?

Kent State students across campus will be able to present their ideas for the chance to win money and bragging rights for their college at LaunchNET’s IDEA OLYMPICS.

Potential Olympians submit a short description of their idea via a 30-90 second video pitch and a written application. Submit these via the event website by Friday, February 22, 2019 at 5pm.

LaunchNET advisors are available to assist any applicant with materials, if needed. Teams are welcome to apply, as well as individuals.

“The Games”

Finalists will be notified via email on March 5, and should make an appointment to practice their pitch before the public competition takes place on March 12

A panel of judges from Kent State and the local community will preside over the evening event, which will include refreshments and networking.

The Winner’s Stand

Past Idea Olympic winners have come from hackathon teams and individuals from all backgrounds and majors, and undergraduate winners are eligible to compete for a larger prize at the regional Idea Labs event, sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Education Consortium.

Last year’s winner, Symone Baskerville, senior Fashion Design major, and founder of Kent Fabrics, used Idea Olympics as a springboard: “Idea Olympics gave me the confidence to start my business and to compete in other pitch competitions. It’s a great experience to be around so many other students excited about growing their startups!”
