Informal Analysis Seminar

Welcome! The Kent State University Mathematical Science Department is to host the next Informal Analysis Seminar on Saturday August 19th & Sunday August 20th, 2023.

The Informal Analysis Seminar takes place twice a year and is organized by the Analysis Group. It is an opportunity to discuss very serious mathematics in a very informal setting. All are welcome to attend, listen, participate, and get in on the action by creating a poster to present! Each speaker will give a lecture series and a poster session will be held for researchers to display their work. Graduate students are particularly encouraged to submit a poster. See below for more details on the upcoming seminar.

To request support, please make the appropriate selection in the registration form. The evaluation of requests will begin two months before the seminar. Original receipts are required for most travel expenses for which the reimbursement is claimed.

Hotel rooms will be reserved and billed directly to the Department of Mathematical Sciences for the participants receiving support for accommodation, in which case the room will be booked for you according to the arrival and departure dates you indicated in the registration form.

Poster Submission Guidelines

All conference participants are encouraged to participate in the poster session. You can bring your poster or just submit the PDF file and we will print it for you for free and you may keep it after the conference is over. The only restrictions are:

  • The poster should clearly state the problem(s) and the result(s) you want to present.
  •  It should be understandable for a graduate student.
  • The maximal poster size is 48in x 60in - If you print the poster yourself, nonstandard sizes are possible, just let us know in advance.

We welcome posters presenting results, problems, surveys, etc. of any level of difficulty and in any format. The only posters that won’t be accepted are those containing false results and incorrect arguments.

You may view this shared drive with example posters for reference.

To sign up for poster session, just check the corresponding box provided on the form during the registration process. The PDF files can be sent to Please, include the words  “poster submission 2023” in the subject line and specify the desired poster size in body.

And please, do not worry and do not be shy,  you will not be alone making your poster presentation. Kent State faculty and graduate students are planing to present several posters during the meeting themselves! We've done it before and will be more then happy to share the files of our posters! Please, do not hesitate to ask.

The deadline for PDF submission is Friday, August 11th.
