Next Steps for International Students

Dear International Students,

As you know from our previous communications, Kent State University is aware of the most recent guidance issued by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and its potential impacts on our international student community. We strongly encourage you to contact your academic advisor or program coordinator by July 15 to discuss what face-to-face options are available for your fall schedule.

Our university community values our international students and their success. Kent State is committed to providing access to a high-quality education for all of its students and assisting you with the resources you need to maintain your F-1 student visa as we enter the 2020 Fall Semester.

Dear International Students,

We are aware that the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) announced modifications to temporary exemptions for nonimmigrant F-1 students taking online classes for fall 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We want you to be aware that we are reviewing the guidance and determining the best way to implement it within our university community to best support our international students.

We know this information is confusing and you may be wondering what your next steps are. We want to reassure you that Kent State University is committed to international student success and is exploring all possible solutions to help students maintain their immigration status in the fall and continue their education. We have dedicated teams working on this, and we will provide you with guidance regarding your schedule soon.

New International Freshman

International Admission freshman application international students in Ohio

New freshmen international applicants must finish secondary school in their home country by the time of enrollment to be eligible for university.  Any student who has already enrolled in any post-secondary (higher education) institution is required to apply as a transfer student.

Applicants are considered transfer students if they have ever taken post-secondary/college level courses or been enrolled in a post-secondary (higher education) institution. Any student previously enrolled in a higher education institution cannot apply as a new freshman.
