Kent State International Student & Scholar Services
The ISSS team's primary objective is to be a resource for maintaining students' immigration statuses, acclimating to the United States, and other issues international students are facing as students at Kent State University and living in the United States. We do this through a comprehensive orientation to Kent State University, webinars, informational sessions, cultural events and more.
Sept. 28, 2020
Dear International Students,
As you may be aware, on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, the Department of Homeland Security issued proposed regulations that, if enacted, would result in the elimination of "Duration of Status," or "D/S" for students and exchange visitors (among others) resulting in a fixed date defining the period of authorized stay in the United States. There is a public comment period of 30 days.
We want to assure you that the International Student and Scholar Services team is aware of the proposal, and we are in the process of developing our response in coordination with the Leadership Team of the Office of Global Education and the University Leadership Team, as well as with our colleagues at colleges and universities across the nation. As the specific efforts of the proposed regulation become clear and our response is developed we will keep you apprised.
Our commitment to our present and future international students and scholar community remains our first priority.
