Major: French
I started studying French in middle school, but it was in high school that I fell in love with the language and culture. I had an incredible teacher in high school who encouraged and inspired me to continue studying French, so of course, I wanted to pursue it as a career! I decided early on in undergrad that I wanted to be a professor of French literature, and I’ve been working towards that goal ever since. My passion for the language took me further than the classroom, and I spent a semester abroad in Besançon, France, where I fell in love with 20th-century French poetry. Studying a foreign language has opened so many doors, from becoming involved in Kent State’s international community to discovering a love of solo travel. I am currently applying for graduate school to study French literature, and I am so grateful to Kent State for giving me a strong foundation in doing something I love.
