Ann Schierhorn
Biography
Ann Schierhorn teaches print and digital reporting, feature writing, magazine writing and editing and magazine publishing with an emphasis on entrepreneurship.
She also teaches the New York Media Seminar, in which students travel to the city to visit media professionals, the Business Media Seminar, in which students learn about job opportunities in specialized business media, and Fashion Publishing for students in the Fashion Media minor.
Education: B.S.J. and M.S.J., Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University.
Professional experience includes Sunday magazine editor, Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle, suburban editor, Rochester Times-Union, and editor-at-large and writing coach, Iowa City (Iowa) Press-Citizen.
Research interests: Civil rights, newsroom creative teams and collaborative storytelling. Also serves as a writing coach for newspapers and magazines.
