It was snowing; it was cold. But that didn't stop a group of veterans, students and students from Kent State's Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC from assisting Kent State's Grounds Crew in the annual Veterans Day bulb-planting on Daffodil Hill.
Daffodil Hill is part of the May 4 National Historic Landmark site and overlooks The Commons on Kent State's Kent Campus. The field of 58, 175 daffodils was planted in 1985 as a memorial, with one flower for each service member who died in the Vietnam War. Each year, the Kent State Grounds Crew works in the fall to plant bulbs so that area may bloom beautifully in the spring.
