TV2 Scores Four Finalist Nods In College Media Competition

KSU's TV2 made the finals for the 2013 Pinnacle Awards

The College Media Association (CMA) announced the finalists for the 2013 Pinnacle Awards, and TV2 KSU is included in four categories:

  • Best Television Newscast, for the March 2013 broadcast that featured breaking news of a United States Senate vote to prevent the shutdown of the Federal Government, as well as a live segment with JMC students reporting from Brazil.
  • Best Television Sportscast for an April 2013 segment on the Boston Marathon terrorist attacks that featured an interview with a local runner who participated in the marathon.
  • Best Entertainment Program for “The Agenda.”
  • TV Station of the Year.

"The students of TV2 have yet another reason to celebrate. Being a finalist in multiple categories in the 2013 Pinnacle Awards proves that TV2 is one of the best student media experiences in the country," said Thor Wasbotten, JMC Director.

John Butte, JMC’s practitioner in residence and TV2’s adviser, attributed the good standings to the efforts of TV2 students. “I am excited for TV2 to receive such recognition for its hard work and commitment to quality television.”

Winners will be announced in October at the CMA National College Media Convention in New Orleans.

In last year’s Pinnacle Award competition, TV2 won Station of the Year and Best Sportscast.
