Curriculum and Instruction doctoral students, Rhonda Hylton, Jennifer Lowers, Jessica Hrubik, Shabnam Moini Chaghervand, and Mohsine Bensaid, with Dr. William Bintz, professor in the School of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Studies, presented How Are Immigration, Emigration, and Migration Portrayed in Selected Picture Books: A Content Analysis at Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (OCTELA) conference. The conference took place on March 1-2, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio.

"We presented findings from content analysis that investigated how immigration, emigration, and migration are portrayed in selected picture books. We also shared curricular resources along with research and standards-based instructional strategies that teachers can use with these picture books to teach students about the complex reality of immigrants emigrants, and migrants," shared Rhonda.
