Kent State Celebrates Promotions and Tenure of 135 Faculty Members

Kent State University is marking the promotions and tenure of 135 faculty members during the 2019-2020 academic year.

“It is my great pleasure to congratulate professors being tenured and/or promoted this year," said Kent State President Todd Diacon. "You make us better by helping our students learn, improve and graduate, and by generating new knowledge and ways of seeing the world. Thank you.”

The recognition formally acknowledges the faculty members’ dedication and work, which has earned them their promotions and tenure milestones.

"Earning tenure and promotion is an outstanding accomplishment," said Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley, Ph.D. "It is the public acknowledgement that one’s career is making a difference, is impacting others and is influencing the way the world and universe are understood. Thank you for your contributions and your commitment to our students, to Kent State University, and your disciplines. Congratulations!"

During the past academic year, 107 tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty members were promoted, and 28 faculty members were granted tenure.

The group of faculty members comes from throughout the university’s eight-campus system and represents all colleges as well as University Libraries.
