Are Golden Flashes Dangerous?

Hall of Fame Writer Sees Kent State as Sleeping Giant

Mike Lopresti knows college basketball.

A member of the U.S. Basketball Writers Hall of Fame, Lopresti has covered college basketball for 43 years, including 39 Final Fours. He jokes that he is so old that he 'covered Bob Knight when he had dark hair and basketball shorts were actually short.'

Senior Miryne Thomas Tries To Score During Home Game

His most recent column on NCAA.com focuses on Kent State as the most dangerous team no one is talking about.

Lopresti highlights Kent State's marquee matchups with national powerhouses Houston and Gonzaga. While both ended in losses, the Golden Flashes threw major scares into two teams expected to be top seeds in March Madness.

His article includes an interview with Head Coach Rob Senderoff and makes note of senior Sincere Carry and other players returning with revenge on their minds after last season's disappointing loss in the MAC title game.
