Where on the Web? A Window To Arts & Cultural Experiences

Kent State University’s cultural offerings have a reach far beyond the borders of Ohio. There’s always something new to experience at the many events held at Kent State, at off-campus locations year-round or virtually. In this edition of Where On The Web?, we explore the redesigned Arts & Cultural Experiences web page, which provides an educational and entertaining window into the world of Kent State.

The page is designed to display a variety of live and digital exhibits and events. Options welcome each visitor to the page to answer the implied question, “How do you want to be inspired today?”

In addition, students, faculty and staff are now able — and encouraged — to submit both their current and past Kent State live and digital events to appear on this website.

Current Featured Events & Exhibits

There are several featured live experiences on the site. The Kent State University Museum exhibit As The World Weds: Global Wedding Traditions opened on Sept. 16, 2022. It will remain on display until Aug. 27, 2023, showcasing different wedding customs from around the world, many of which focus on clothing and textiles.

Now and Then: Seven Decades of Kent State Ceramics, an exhibit from the School of Art Collection and Galleries, features work from current and former faculty, notable alumni and a juried selection of works from the School of Art Collection and Galleries. The exhibit was installed on Oct. 28, 2022, and will be on display until Jan. 14, 2023, at the KSU Downtown Gallery, located at 141 E. Main St. in Kent, Ohio.

Along with live experiences, there are multiple digital exhibits also displayed, such as the Acquiring History: The 50 Year Legacy of Robert Smithson’s Partially Buried Woodshed at Kent State University and Black Voices Matter from the Wick Poetry Center, the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the Department of Africana Studies at Kent State.
