Apps and Admits and Deposits, Oh My! Breaking Fall Freshman Class Records

Kent State University is proving that it is the place to be for fall 2023.

The Admissions Office reports that for the Kent Campus, the university has received a record-breaking number of applications from people who want to attend Kent State in the fall and has reached a record-breaking number of students who have been accepted for admission into the university. In addition, at this point in time, Kent State has seen a record-breaking number of students who have made deposits to confirm their attendance in the fall.

“Kent State has never seen this many freshman domestic applications for admission ever before,” said Collin Palmer, Kent State’s associate vice president for enrollment management, admissions. “This is a university record.”

To date, the university has received 23,924 applications for admission to the Kent Campus. That is a 6.97% increase over last year and sets a new university record.

Compared to this time last year, Palmer said that Kent State is up in applications, admits and deposits for the Kent Campus from students in Ohio and from students outside of Ohio.

“We want students to confirm by May 1, which is National College Decision Day, that they are joining us this fall,” Palmer said. “It is exciting to see so many students demonstrating that our university continues to be a top choice.”

Time will tell if Kent State sees its largest freshman class this fall and breaks the previous record, which occurred in 2018. The 2018 freshman class was the largest for the Kent Campus in university history with 4,363 students.
