Emily Spencer, a senior human development and family science major in Kent State's College of Education, Health and Human Services from North Canton, took part in a wildlife safari at Akagera National Park, Central Africa’s largest protected wetland and refuge for savannah-adapted species in Rwanda.

Spencer is one of seven Kent State students taking part in the Kigali Summer Institute study abroad program in Kigali, Rwanda. This is her first trip outside of the U.S. and she believes that it will help to prepare her for possible service in the Peace Corps.
