Update: Golden Flashes Football Game Remains A 'Go' as Idalia Approaches Northern Florida

Thursday night's game at Central Florida expected to go forward after hurricane makes landfall

Kent State University is coordinating closely with the University of Central Florida (UCF) ahead of Thursday's season-opening football game between the two schools in Orlando, Florida.

As of Tuesday morning, Idalia was a Category 1 hurricane expected to make landfall early Wednesday morning and travel west-to-east across the northern part of the state.

UCF is expected to provide an update on Tuesday following Monday's announcement that, "UCF's Emergency Management team is actively monitoring Tropical Storm Idalia. At this time, we do not anticipate disruption to normal campus operations."

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, which is more than 100 miles south of the storm's expected path.

At this time, the Flash Nation alumni tailgate is still scheduled. However, we are closely monitoring the situation and will keep registrants updated on any changes. If you have any questions about the tailgate, please call 330-672-2899.

Visit Kent State Sports for more information on the game and our award-winning Intercollegiate Athletics programs.

Kent State Today will provide updates as needed for those from our campus community who are impacted by the storm.
