This was the first year that the Northeast Ohio Walk to Defeat ALS was held at Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine

Kent State University’s College of Podiatric Medicine was the setting on Sunday for the 2023 Northeast Ohio Walk to Defeat ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

Hundreds of walkers joined the ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter for the walk held at the college’s Independence campus to raise money for the ALS Association, which is the only national nonprofit organization fighting ALS. The walk raised $332,251, 83 percent of the $400,000 goal.

This was the first year that the Northeast Ohio Walk to Defeat ALS was held at Kent State’s College of Podiatric Medicine.

The ALS Association aids people with ALS through its nationwide network of chapters, leads the way in global research and fosters government partnerships.

“The mission of The ALS Association is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.”
