Irina Shcheglova
What is your current occupational position or career, and what are your job responsibilities?
It has been 10 years since my graduation (I graduated from KSU in December 2014). I was an international student from Russia who got a unique chance to pusue a Master's degree under Fulbright scholarship. Currently I am an Assistant Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University (XJTLU) in China. Please kindly see my personal profile - Irina Shcheglova — Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (xjtlu.edu.cn)
How did the EVAL/RMS program prepare you to obtain or advance in your career?
I think that Kent State helped me develop a strong passion for research and boosted my academic career. I really enjoyed all courses and collaboration with KSU professors but one professor influenced my research interests - Martha Merrill, Ph.D.
What did you most enjoy about the EVAL/RMS program, or being a student at Kent State University?
My current research is related to one goal - to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. And I try to disseminate my ideas through publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Quality in Higher Education, Education and Information Technologies, Journal of Higher Education Policy and Management, European Journal of Higher Education and books edited by well-known researchers in the field of education. My research outputs are closely related to international education, intercultural competence and student development. I believe that KSU experience has contributed to my research identity. Also, I really enjoyed being part of international KSU community. I met so many wonderful people from all over the world and we became friends. We are still in touch with some of them.
Any other information about yourself that you would like to provide?
