Since the holiday season calls for delicious and indulgent foods like pumpkin pie, candied yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, not surprisingly a person consumes an average of 3,000 calories at Thanksgiving dinner – 1,000 over the recommended daily intake, according to Spoon University.
The average person gains six to 10 pounds over the holiday season, says Tanya Falcone, registered dietitian and nutritional outreach coordinator at Kent State University. This can lead to significant weight gain over the years that does not shed, even after the New Year.

Employees not eligible for the paid leave include student employees, classified temporary staff, temporary agency staff, short-term unclassified appointments, unclassified intermittent appointments and employees in a lay-off status. More information on the holiday schedule, including how employees should report time during that period, will be available later this month.
