    Biography

My educational background includes earning a B.S. in Nutrition and M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics through Kent State University along with a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development from North Carolina State University. I have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) since 2015 and have over 8 years of professional experience in community nutrition and extension education. Currently, I teach Foodservice Systems Management, Science of Human Nutrition, and Introductory Food Science. I am a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior. My graduate research focused on studying educators' experiences with virtual delivery of community nutrition education. This research applied the Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) framework to demonstrate how the contextual elements of education influence delivery. My current research interest focuses on utilizing participatory and system-based approaches to promote nutrition security within communities.
