Jennifer O'Connell, Director


Serving as the Director for Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services is not only an honor for Jennie but also a passion. In her role, Jennie provides oversight for the universities prevention education, awareness and advocacy support around power-based personal violence. As the director, Jennie is not only is responsible for the supervision and budget of SRVSS, but she also develops the strategic goals of SRVSS as well as manages the multiple grants that assist in funding the work at Kent State. Finally, Jennie serves on several university level initiatives including the Kent State of Wellness and the Great Place Initiative leading efforts related to safety and climate change around unwanted sexual experiences. Jennie also holds a certification as an educator for the Green Dot Bystander movement.


Originally from Stow, Ohio, Jennie spent 12 years in New England working with college students and the community. As a coalition coordinator for an alcohol and drug prevention in a city of 30,000 and as the Coordinator of Education and Outreach with A Safe Place, a domestic abuse support services organization, Jennie was instrumental in educating the community and youth about substance abuse, domestic abuse and teen dating violence. Prior to working the community, Jennie worked in the university setting serving as a Residence Hall Director at the University of New Hampshire and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She took the time to get to know her residents and to assist them in being successful in college.

Yvette Roberts, Support Services Coordinator

I serve as the Support Services Coordinator for Kent State University's Office of Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services. I am responsible for assisting with educating students, faculty and staff about personal safety and violence prevention, empowering them to build healthy relationships and helping to prevent power-based personal violence, and responding to those in need.   


Prior to coming to Kent, I worked for Akron Summit Community Action, Inc. for fifteen years as a Project Coordinator for their Foster Grandparent Program and Family Support Specialist in their Head Start Program. I also work part-time for the Battered Women Shelter of Summit and Medina County as a Crisis Intervention Specialist.

Sven Rundman, Project Coordinator

As Project Coordinator for the Office of Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services (SRVSS), I am responsible for coordinating the Green Dot movement, implementing the online module Think About It for all incoming first-year and transfer students, and developing a masculinity program.


I came to Kent State University directly after the completion of my Masters degree at the University of Tennessee. During my time there, I interned on campus where I assisted the Sexual Violence Prevention Coordinator in the development and implementation of sexual violence prevention programs and a masculinity program.

Jessica Lockhart, Graduate Assistant

My position is with the Center for Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services within the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. My position includes assisting with the outreach and awareness initiatives for the Center for SRVSS and providing support for all power-based personal violence programming. The main events that I assist with occur during Relationship Abuse Awareness Month (October), Stalking Awareness Month (January) and Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April).


Throughout my undergraduate career I worked at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center; Beginning as an Assistant and working my way up to Facility Supervisor. Along with that, I worked as a Vector Control intern with the City of Kent Health Department in the summer of 2016 and a Green Dot intern with SRVSS throughout the 2017-18 academic year. As a public health student, I had the opportunity to serve on the e-board of the Public Health Student Alliance and the Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week as well.
