Text-Based Support for Survivors

Reaching out for support after an assault takes courage and strength.   Often the person who was assaulted fears being blamed, not believed or silenced.  In an effort to give students, faculty and staff who have been assaulted or are looking for information for someone they care about, Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services (SRVSS) is partnering with Townhall II, the county's rape crisis center, to offer text-based support.

This partnership is funded through the Vitcims of Crime Act grant of the Ohio Attorney General's Office.  Support will be provided solely through Townhall II, which will allow those who seek support to remain confidential.  During the academic year, support will be provided on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights from 6-10 PM. Students can access support by texting 330-294-7112.

Townhall II has been providing victims of crime support services for nearly 40 years.  In addition to the text-based services, Townhall II offers vicitim advocates who can provide crisis support and accompaniment to the hospital.  Their victim advocates can be reach 24/7 at 330-678-3006.  Additionally, Townhall II holds a support group for sexual assault survivors.  Contact them for more information.

For more information about this new services please contact SRVSS at 330-672-8016
