IN A FLASH: A Presidential Experience

TV2 covering Pres. Biden visit.

When U.S. President Joe Biden visited East Palestine, Ohio, Feb. 16, a year after the train derailment and chemical spill, two student reporters from Kent State were there to capture the story.

Alexandria Manthey, a senior journalism major and reporter for Kent State's TV2, and Kayla Gleason, sophomore journalism major and beat reporter for KentWired, were given White House press credentials so that they could record video of the President and Air Force One at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Manthey said, "It was such a surreal experience to see Air Force One and the President, along with the White House staff, in real life." She said that this experience highlights the outstanding, real-world opportunities offered through Kent State's Student Media outlets and the College of Communication and Information's School of Media and Journalism program.
