Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7. Voting can be intimidating for some, so Kent State Today wanted to share some resources to help students feel prepared to hit the polls.

Where do I vote?

Polling locations for Kent State students who are registered to vote in Portage County are split according to what residence halls students live in.

Students who live in Allyn Hall, Clark Hall, Fletcher Hall, Manchester Hall, Johnson Hall, Stopher Hall, Lake Hall, Olson Hall, Korb Hall, Leebrick Hall and Wright Hall are in Precinct 4A and will vote at the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center located at 1550 Ted Boyd Drive.

Students who live in Centennial Court A, B, C, D, Dunbar Hall, Prentice Hall, Verder Hall and Engleman Hall are in Precinct 5C and will also vote at the Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center located at 1550 Ted Boyd Drive to cast their votes.

Students living in Centennial Court E, Centennial Court F and Koonce Hall are in Precinct 6D and will vote at the United Methodist Church located at 1435 E. Main Street.

Students living in Beall Hall, McDowell Hall and Van Campen are in Precinct 4B and will vote at the Kent Christian Life Center at 1972 Summit Street.

Students who live off-campus can check the precinct maps for Kent and Ravenna to see where their polling locations are located.

What should I bring to vote?

Before you go to the polls, make sure that you have the proper form of identification required to cast your vote.

The Ohio Secretary of State’s website lists acceptable forms of identification for Ohio voters, which include an Ohio driver’s license, a State of Ohio ID card, a U.S. passport, a U.S. passport card or a U.S. military ID card. All IDs must have a photograph of the voter, the voter’s name, which should match your name as it appears in the Poll List or Poll Book and a valid expiration date.

What is going to be on the ballot?

You should be familiar with candidates and issues before you arrive to vote. Voters can see what is on their ballot by visiting the Ohio Secretary of State’s website and clicking on the county in which they will be voting. The site will then ask for the voter's name and they will be able to select and view their sample ballot to see all the issues and candidates available to them.

Have an absentee ballot?

If you registered to vote using an absentee ballot, you must return it to the Board of Elections in the county you are registered. The ballot can be returned in-person to the Board of Elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Night or the ballot can be returned by mail, but it must be postmarked no later than the day before Election Day. That’s Monday!
