Kent State University’s School of Peace and Conflict Studies and School of Communication Studies has organized a panel discussion to talk about free speech and protest on campus to educate students about their rights and responsibilities.

Kent State University President Todd Diacon focused on the benefits to Ohio from state support of Kent State during his April 10 presentation before the Ohio Senate Workforce and Higher Education Committee in Columbus, Ohio. 

The Healthy Communities Research Institute conducts interdisciplinary basic and applied research that will lead to the discovery of practices that “enable people to thrive free of preventable diseases and injury.”

The lecture series created in 2022 to honor the legacy of Kent State University Professor Emeritus of Sociology Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., will feature Professor of Geography Chris Post, Ph.D., presenting “Developing and Interpreting the Wounded Student Markers at Kent State” as this year’s selected speaker. The Jerry M. Lewis May 4 Lecture Series and Luncheon will be held on May 3.

The brightly colored blue and gold Mobile Flashes Wellness Unit from Kent State University’s College of Public Health will be hitting the streets to help bring public health services to the people of northeast Ohio.

On May 3-4, 2024, Kent State University will hold its annual commemoration honoring the memory of May 4, 1970, a tragic day when the Ohio National Guard fired on Kent State students during an anti-war protest on campus, killing four students, wounding nine others and sparking a turning point in American history.

Summit County Domestic Relations Court Judge Kani H. Hightower is on a mission to make the justice system in Summit County, Ohio, more accessible for underprivileged and underrepresented citizens. The thousands of people who came to Kent State University on April 8 to witness the total solar eclipse did not leave disappointed by the celestial show, the likes of which had not been seen in Kent, Ohio since 1806.

After the eclipse, Flashes can do their part to promote sustainability  by recycling their eclipse glasses for use by viewers of future eclipses around the world. 

All eyes have been on Northeast Ohio the past several weeks as the Kent State University and The University of Akron’s men’s and women’s basketball teams battled it out for the MAC championship title. It wasn’t always such a bitter rivalry between these two Northeast Ohio legends, however. Just look at this old footage we found of Flash and Zippy bonding back in the day.

The Kent State women’s basketball team will play in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2002. Champions do so much on their own, just look at the stats. But this championship team is supported by its members, its coaches and the Kent State Community.

The Golden Flashes have made it to the NCAA tournament during a moment when women’s basketball is in the prime spotlight.
