  • Kent State University Assistant Professor Richard Piet, Ph.D., has received a $1.7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to aid in his ongoing neuroendocrinology research. 

  • Kent State University education major Klair Heestand said the time she spent teaching refugee students in Akron in the spring was excellent preparation for when she enters her own classroom one day. 

    “It was very helpful, because we’re going to have students of varying abilities, and students for whom English is a second language, no matter where we teach,” Heestand said. “We don’t need anyone left behind because of a language barrier.” 

     

  • Mark Ledoux's work has made a difference with a lot of students. Make that, a lot of students. For more than a decade, he's been on the front lines in helping new students find what they need to afford their journey. Recently, a single interaction with a graduate left a lasting impression.

  • Randale L. Richmond will lead Kent State Athletics through July 1, 2028, as vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics, in accordance with a contract amendment announced by Kent State University President Todd Diacon.

  • FlashTalk is produced by Golden Flashes TV and airs weekly on Bally’s Sports Ohio/Great Lakes. Each episode features a variety of coaches and administrators while promoting the upcoming athletics calendar.

  • Jake Ferri of Billerica, Massachusettes struggled with personal pressure, including turning his wrestling matches into life-or-death situations. That was until he decided to free himself, and the change has been dramatic.  

  • Kent State’s 6’9” center with a deep, booming voice is an imposing force having earned a spot in the starting rotation during his freshman year, but spend a few moments with the team’s top big man — the oldest of seven children — and you’ll find him friendly and approachable.

  • Chris Payton and Miryne Thomas committed to Kent State one day apart last April. While they didn’t know one another, they bonded as transfer players and have helped lead their team to March Madness.
