Everything you need to know about Kent State’s virtual commencement ceremony

We’re just a day away from the spring virtual commencement ceremony, Class of 2020!

Even though we can’t be together in-person on May 9, that doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate together! Our graduating seniors have worked hard for their degrees, and we are thrilled to recognize their hard work.

So here’s everything you need to know about the virtual commencement recognition ceremony on May 9:

Who: Kent State students, faculty, staff, family and friends are invited to tune in!

When: 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9

Where: www.kent.edu/commencement

What: Visit the Commencement website at 11 a.m. The virtual ceremony will feature messages from Kent State President Todd Diacon, Interim Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley, and college and campus deans. Registered participants will also receive individual name recognition and participate in the conferral of their degrees.

(What else?): We’ve had some special social media elements this week for the seniors leading up the big day!

  • Facebook filters: Show your #FlashesForever pride on your Facebook profile image this weekend with our special filters. There are two to choose from: One for the Class 2020 graduates and the other for all the family and friends who want to show their love!

  • Share your photos: Speaking of images, be sure you share your virtual commencement images using #FlashesForever on social media. Are you having a Zoom watch party? Did you decorate your grad cap? Are you having a socially distant photo shoot in your cap and gown in your backyard? We want to see it all! We plan on sharing a few of our favorites, so don’t forget to use the hashtag.

  • Kent State look back: Yesterday, we featured an Instagram story where you had a chance to revisit a few of your favorite memories on campus. Missed it? Don’t worry, you can still submit your photos on this post

As always, keep an eye on ALL of our social media accounts for the latest updates and activities. And now that you’re moving from students to alumni, here’s a blog post with a list of social media resources for alumni.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
