Financial Aid Disbursement

How and when financial aid will be disbursed?

Financial aid awarded to a student cannot be released to the student’s Bursar account until 10 days before the semester begins (for Intersession, Summer I and Summer II terms: financial aid will not be released until 10 days before the Summer I session begins. Financial Aid for the Summer III session will not be released until 10 days before the Summer III session begins). Aid will not be released until all requirements are completed (promissory note signed; all paperwork submitted, reviewed, and determined to be complete; student is registered for required number of credit hours, etc.). If financial aid has been released to the student’s Bursar account and creates a credit balance, the student will be issued a refund. Students may check FlashLine (flashline.kent.edu) to see what their likely refund will be.

If a refund check has already been ordered by the Bursar’s Office, it will be mailed within 48 hours from the date showing on the Account Summary. All refund checks will be mailed. Students are encouraged to have their refund directly deposited into a checking or savings account. This speeds up the receipt of the funds and eliminates the potential for a refund check to be lost. Receipt of direct deposit funds must always be verified with the lending institution before spending this money. The Bursar's Office will not be liable for any bank charges assessed for overdrawing an account. Students can apply for direct deposit online at FlashLine (flashline.kent.edu).
