The Writing Commons will be hosting an open event during the week before Finals Week. From Monday, May 2, to Thursday, May 5, 4 PM - 8 PM, students are welcome to stop by the Writing Commons where tutors will be available to work with on a first come, first served basis. We will be located just outside of the Writing Commons on the 4th floor of the University Library. No appointment needed!

Writing Commons and Career Services Résumé Workshop
The Writing Commons and Career Services will be hosting a résumé workshop, this upcoming Wednesday, April 20, on the 4th floor of the University Library, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Career Services will provide a presentation from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm on what employers look for and tips on how to create a résumé that will appeal to potential businesses and companies. Afterwards, there will be an open workshop for anyone to work on their résumé and receive feedback and suggestions. Anyone who is graduating, or anyone who is planning to apply for jobs in general, is welcome to stop by to learn a little more about what employers search for when they look at résumés.

Writing Commons Helps Train Area Writing Tutors
The Writing Commons will host a tutor training and development workshop for area high school students who have been selected by their teachers to become writing center tutors at their schools. Seven students will arrive at the Writing Commons on Wednesday, February 17 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. They will observe, converse and work with experienced tutors to help develop their tutoring abilities within their own high school writing center.

Using Sources in Writing and Avoiding Plagiarism

This workshop is geared toward the needs of first-year students. Learn from Librarians about the plagiarism policy at KSU, and about different types of plagiarism. Writing Center staff will help you learn about reading, note-taking, and writing strategies to integrate source material into your essays.
