Kent State University’s School of Art invites prospective students, transfer students, families and teachers to attend School of Art Open House.

Hosted in the Center for the Visual Arts, the open house offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about the School of Art’s academic programs, studio areas, faculty, facilities and student experience. Guests will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, sit in on select classes, tour gallery spaces, learn about academic programs and explore hands-on activities connected to studio art, art education, art history and animation game design. The event is designed to help prospective students experience the School of Art’s learning environment and connect with the people and spaces that support a Kent State arts education.

 

Guests have Opportunities to:
  • Learn about undergraduate study in the School of Art
  • Meet faculty, staff and current students
  • Sit in on select art history and studio courses
  • Tour galleries and studio spaces in the Center for the Visual Arts
  • Participate in hands-on “make and take” activities, as available
  • Learn about art education, travel study and School of Art collections
  • Ask questions about programs, admissions and the student experience

Some studio-based activities may require advance registration because of limited space.

Who Should Attend

The School of Art Open House is intended for high school students, transfer students, parents, guardians and teachers who want to learn more about studying art at Kent State University. The event provides a chance to experience the School of Art in person and understand how students engage with faculty, peers, materials, ideas and professional practices throughout their education.
