In 2021, Governor Mike DeWine appointed graduate student in the College of Arts and Sciences Haley Crews as Kent State University’s graduate student trustee. She will serve a two-year term through May 16, 2023.
Trustee Crews is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in sociology at Kent State and her research interests include social psychology, neurosociology, and higher education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Sociology from the University of Mount Union.
As part of her undergraduate career at the University of Mount Union, Trustee Crews served as the Executive Vice President for Student Senate, attending Faculty Senate and Board of Trustees meetings. She also served as Chapter President for Alpha Delta Pi for two years and was a member of the University of Mount Union’s latest presidential search committee.
Currently, at Kent State, Trustee Crews serves as the Vice President of Alpha Kappa Delta, the honor society for sociology and criminal justice, and the Social Chair of Sociologists for Women in Society in Kent. She received the Elaine Mai Schock Award for Outstanding Master’s Student Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Criminology in 2021. Outside of the university, she serves as the Membership Education Advisor at Ohio University for Alpha Delta Pi and is a member of Mount Union Women.
