Kristofer Braxton, M.Ed.

Academic Advisor
B.A., History '13 graduate

Kris Braxton is currently an Academic Advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences and originates from Columbus, Ohio. Originally having aspirations of becoming a lawyer, Kris enrolled at Kent State in 2008 as a Political Science major.  Although political science interested him, he started to realize he was pursuing the desires of his parents rather than his own true interests.

Kris was fortunate to have an academic advisor that inspired him to pursue those interests and supported him in declaring a major in History, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2013. Having a passion to positively impact others, similar to that of his advisor, Kris began his search for a graduate degree program. After much contemplation, Kris decided a Master’s degree in Higher Education would allow him the opportunity to encourage and serve others and in many ways pay it forward. Kris’ graduate concentration centered on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and he enjoyed internships with Upward Bound and other TRIO programs. As it turns out, Kris’ college advisor’s influence stuck with him, as he graduated with his Master’s and saw advising as a perfect opportunity to have a similar impact on students’ personal and academic development.  Kris is proudly Green Dot and Safe Space certified, as well as a mentor for Men’s Empowerment Network and Kupita and serves as a chapter advisor for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
