Digital Knit Design

In this hands-on workshop participants will learn about how to design knitted product. Starting from stitch characteristics and yarn selection to shaping and combinations of stitches.

The course will be utilizing the Create Plus software to develop stitches as well as create texture maps to be integrated into other digital workflows such as Browzwear or CLO3D. The course will also cover stitch communication to be included in technical packets for production.

Delivery

2-DAY ONSITE INTRODUCTION MAY 10-11th.

 May 10th 9am-4pm,

May 11th 9am – 4pm

ONLINE CLASS MAY 21st-JUNE 25TH

May 21st – June 25th Tuesdays at 11am ET.

Assignments for individual work will be provided weekly and reviewed by the instructor for additional feedback.  

The body of the workshop will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. There will be one synchronous lecture/meeting per week TUESDAYS at 11am, and one lesson delivered asynchronously assignment shared weekly and reviewed by instructor. Each participant will have access to a Create Plus programming software trial license. Note that the software requires a PC computer. More detailed information will be provided with your registration.

Participants who have a license and would prefer to focus on the M1 Plus software, may choose to do so.

Cost

Cost for workshop $1499

Includes instruction, supplies for the onsite visits, as well as a trial license for the Create Plus software. Participants are responsible for their travel, hotel, and food for the campus visits.

Instructor

Linda Ohrn-McDaniel is a Professor in the School of Fashion. Her research and teaching has focused on knitted textiles over the past 10 years. She has extensive experience in designing and programming both for Fashion products and technical textiles. Beyond working in academia, she works closely with industry on knit development to build more opportunities for knit design and manufacturing in the United States.
