Creating Augmented Reality with the Merge Cube

This mini-course will provide participants with the confidence and skills needed to integrate augmented reality into the classroom. Participants will learn how to use CoSpaces to create authentic work that can be used in any subject. This course is specifically designed for those new to augmented reality, although anyone with more experience is welcome to take the course. The suggested range for those teaching grades 3 through 12. Participants will need a Merge Cube (available online at Amazon and Walmart) and a mobile device with the free CoSpaces EDU app. 

CoSpacesEDU works with any device, but a MAC, Windows 10 or Chromebook is recommended.

Diigo: Online Annotation and Media Literacy

Annotating a book is an important skill for any student to learn. Highlight text, sharing ideas and writing in the margins is a common practice in schools today. Diigo lets you do that on the Web. Imagine a website, you read four years ago, that has your highlights, post it notes, and annotated images saved to your library. Now think about how you can share your ideas and annotations with students, guide them in difficult passages and differentiate the content for certain students. Diigo is a free, web-based application that will allow you to bring these imaginations into your classroom.

Created to assist Ohio educators, this workshop makes it easy to learn and teach students about organ, eye and tissue donation. Covering everything from the donation process, benefits and needs, and registration, this workshop is meant to help teachers enhance classroom learning and to prepare students to make an informed decision.

The course will probe instructional strategies and theories, to be coupled with technologies. When the methods are combined with the tools this should enable educators to facilitate an effective social emotional learning environment.

Lifelong Kindergarten

The book, "Lifelong Kindergarten", by Dr. Mitch Resnick, LEGO Papert Professor of Learning Research and Director of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at MIT Media lab, will be the focus of this course. Resnick makes a great case that "the rest of school (even the rest of life) should be more like kindergarten." Beginning with "Froebels Kindergarten" in 1837 Resnick shows us how we can nurture creativity and learning in ourselves and our students. Skills that are necessary for today's learner. Students will read and discuss Resnick's ideas, create an action plan to enhance their classroom applying the concepts shared in the book. 

Note: There is a required text for this course that must be purchased by the participant: Lifelong Kindergarten, Cultivating Creativity through Projects, Passion, Peers, and Play by Mitchel Resnick. Options for purchasing

My Maps: Interactive Online Mapping

This course features the free product of Google My Maps. This interactive tool can be used in a variety of ways in a variety of different subjects. In this course you will learn the ins and outs of this program helping you guide your students to create a great visual of class content that allows students to quickly recall previously learned content, because they built it! You will learn how to plot points on a map and customize pins, images, videos, links, lines and shaded regions all while gathering ideas for you to use in your classroom upon completion.

Pear Deck: Presentations and Engagement

How do you get every student to answer every question that you ask? Pear Deck, that's how. Using Pear Deck allows you to get 100% of your students to answer 100% of the questions. The main purpose of "Pear Deck: Blur the Line on Your Presentations and Get 100% Engagement" is to transform your daily lesson into an interactive conversation between the whole class that blurs the line between traditional instruction and learning while students receive immediate feedback. That feedback or formative assessment can then be used by the teacher to help make decisions about future lessons. Strategies & Tools for the Innovative Classroom

Teachers will learn different strategies and technology tools to help students demonstrate their thinking. Different strategies will include ways to introduce new topics, connect learning, annotate and support claims in a text, make connections and develop themes. Inexpensive and free technology tools will be used to support different classroom accessibility.

Using the NEW Scratch 3.0: Creating Stories, Games & Animations Across the Curriculum

This mini-course will provide you with the confidence and skills needed to integrate coding into the classroom. The focus will be on the new Scratch 3.0. This course is specifically designed for beginners, although more experienced coders are welcome to take the course. You will learn how to animate and control sprites as they interact with each other. Scratch is very versatile and can be used with grades 2 through 12. Scratch 3.0 works with any device, but a MAC, Windows 10 or Chromebook is recommended.
