Sponsored by the Ohio QM Consortium, the 2018 Ohio Quality Matters Annual Member Meeting (QM AMM) brings together staff and faculty interested in Quality Matters from over 60 Ohio member institutions. Join us for information sessions and exciting discussions focusing on Quality Matters initiatives and implementation, designing online courses with the QM rubric, and much more. This event is free to all faculty and staff of Ohio QM Consortium member institutions.

Keynote Speaker - Deborah Adair

Deborah Adair, Ph.D.

Dr. Adair is the Executive Director of Quality Matters, a widely-adopted international non-profit organization for quality assurance in online learning serving approximately 1,100 colleges and universities, education-related organizations, government entities, and K-12 institutions. Dr. Adair has held faculty appointments in management at several universities and has more than 25 years experience in higher education, in teaching and administration, as well as non-profit leadership and management consulting. Her acknowledgments include citations from state and local governments for her work on literacy and women's issues, the Broward College Alumni Merit Award, and the Nofflet Williams Award for service to the distance learning community. 

She currently serves on advisory boards for the National University Technology Network, the Presidents' Forum, and Credential Engine. She previously served on the advisory board for the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies. As an expert in quality assurance for online education, Dr. Adair is a frequent keynote speaker, presenter, and author.

Call for Proposals - Now Open

Important Dates and Information

    • Your submission must include a title, session objectives, and description

Submit Your Proposal

  • Proposals are due by Monday, March 5, 2018
  • Notification of acceptance will be sent by Monday, April 2, 2018
  • Questions regarding proposals can be submitted to Dr. Mary Hricko at mhricko@kent.edu or Dr. Bethany Simunich at bsimunic@kent.edu 

Session proposals should be related to the use of Quality Matters. Ideas include:

  • Best Practices of Quality Matters implementation
  • Applying the QM rubric or strategies for addressing individual standards
  • Achieving alignment or other instructional design topics
  • Preparing a course for a QM review
  • Measuring the impact of Quality Matters
  • Instructional/design strategies for learner interaction and engagement
  • Faculty development activities and programs
  • Quality Matters program development
  • Quality Matters and student success
  • Research opportunities using the QM rubric, process, or professional development
  • Information on Open Educational Resources (OER), accessibility, etc., as related to QM

Session Types

Sessions will be 60 minutes in length, with 45 minutes of presentation time, and 15 left for Q&A, speaker introduction, etc. 

  • Individual or Group Presentation: This session type will provide participants with an opportunity to learn new concepts or increase their current skills or knowledge. Joint proposals/inter-institutional proposals are highly encouraged! 
  • Panel Session: Panels are 3 or more people with different roles/different perspectives and/or from different institutions. A moderator can be provided, or can be part of the proposal
  • Applied Workshop: Interactive, applied sessions. Great for BYOD topics, hands-on topics, discussion topics, "think pair share" approaches, etc.
  • Posters: Posters will be available for viewing during the day, and also be a separate breakout session where attendees can speak with the poster presenter
