JMC Students Take Top Honors at the Press Club of Cleveland's All-Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards

JMC students shined in the student media section at The Press Club of Cleveland’s All-Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards, with four first-place awards and one second-place finish in both the print and TV categories.

In the Best Print News Story category: Kent Stater staff took first place for "Three Hours of Fear: Campus Officials, Witnesses Detail Lockdown Events After Student Fires Shot. "

Judges commented "Very well reported, complete with personal perspectives. Excellent example of team reporting. Lively writing."

 
 

In the Best Print Sports Story category: Richie Mulhall received first place for "ESPN, MAC Contract Case Closer to Being Cracked, But Remains Unsolved."

 

In the Best TV News Story category: Michael Bratton snagged first place for "Kent State Walkout."

 

In the Best TV Sports Story category: Zach Harley received first place for "Kent State Women’s Golf."

In the Best Online Report category: Kara Taylor and Jason Kostura received second place for "Students Rally to Challenge Westboro Protest Tweets."
