KSU Kickoff is the start to your first semester as a Golden Flash.

You will engage in three days of activities to familiarize yourself with the Kent State University community, make new friends, aid in academic success and meet different faculty and staff from around campus. Some events are required to ensure that you start the semester successfully, while other events are optional based on your interests and needs.

KSU Kickoff takes place directly following Move-In Week and runs from Monday, Aug. 24 until Wednesday, Aug. 26. During KSU Kickoff 2020, students can expect to participate in a safe and engaging experience.

All KSU Kickoff events will adhere to Kent State’s Flashes Safe Seven operating principles and all students participating in these events must also adhere to the principles. For more information, visit Flashes Safe Seven.

If you have questions at any time, please don’t hesitate to email newatksu@kent.edu or call 330-672-2014. You can email or call anytime during Move-In Week or KSU Kickoff!

Move-In and/or KSU Kickoff Preparation

All first-year students should continue to use the DKS Mobile app during Move-in Week and KSU Kickoff. The DKS Mobile app is the app you used to guide you through DKS New Student Orientation and, beginning Aug. 15, will contain the content necessary to keep you informed of important information and help you make the most of your KSU Kickoff experience.

The KSU Kickoff portal in the DKS Mobile App contains:

  • A comprehensive Move-In Week and KSU Kickoff event calendar (including event registration)
  • Frequently Asked Questions
  • Live Bus Tracker
  • Shared Experience Location Finder
  • Campus Maps
  • And more!

The Common Conversations and Community Impact Dialogue shared experience is required for all first-year students. This experience will take place during KSU Kickoff where you will meet together as your First Year Experience (FYE) course section.

If your FYE class meets in person, this experience will be in person. If your FYE class meets virtually, this experience will be a synchronous meeting.

More information, including meeting time and location, will become available on August 15th in the DKS Mobile app KSU Kickoff section.
