The Listening Eye is a literary arts journal that publishes poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and artwork — and has been doing so since 1970 through Kent State University's Geauga Campus. TLE founder, Kent State Geauga English Professor Emerita Grace Butcher, edited the journal for 52 years.

TLE's first 51 years in print are now archived in the Kent State Library's Special Collections. A 52nd number, the 2022-23 double issue, inaugurates the journal's transition to online-exclusive publication. See our "Issues" tab  for reading and self-printing options.

TLE welcomes contributions from new and established artists through its next open call,  February 15 - May 15, 2025, on Submittable.com. Please make a free account on Submittable and search The Listening Eye for details at that time.
