Please follow the instructions below to ensure that your articulated credit application is processed as quickly as possible.
Part 1: Student Application Instructions:
This portion of the application is submitted by students. Students will need their Kent State University e-mail log in credentials to complete this application. If a student does not have access to that information, please contact mcola@kent.edu for assistance.
In order to minimize delay in application processing students should ensure that they have submitted their FINAL high school transcript to the university as promptly as it is available after graduation, and be prepared to upload a copy of all necessary certifications, if applicable.
The steps below should be completed by the student.
1: Visit our webpage at this link.
2: Scroll and click the box containing the appropriate career field.
3: Scroll down and select the tab containing the appropriate career pathway; if the student’s program is not listed in the expected pathway, don’t panic, help them navigate to ensure the application wasn’t misplaced.
4: Under ‘Student Credit Application’s by District’ click the link to the appropriate program.
5: The student’s name, e-mail, and KSU ID number should automatically populate.
5a: Student fills in their phone number.
5b: If applicable, student selects the appropriate career pathway of their program.
5c: Student selects their school and program from the box labeled ‘CTE High School:’
Note: This step will ensure that the appropriate course credits populate for the instructor portion of the process.
5d: Student manually types in their instructor e-mail.
Note: This step is important because after the student signs and submits the application, the form will get routed to that e-mail. Make sure to check for e-mail accuracy before clicking submit.
5e: Click the box that says ‘please select’ and respond to the question: ‘Do you give Kent State permission to post any APPLICABLE Career Technical Assurance Guide (CTAG) credit.’
5f: IF NECESSARY attach appropriate documentation – to determine whether documentation is necessary review the courses listed under the ‘instructor information’ box. It will indicate whether any documentation or certificates are required and for which courses.
Note: Not all credit applications require additional documentation. If the student is filling out an application and no documentation is requested, they should skip this step.
5g: Click the student Signature box, read the appropriate disclosures, sign your first name in the top box and last name in the bottom box, and click ‘sign electronically.’
6: Student clicks submit form.
Note: At any point in the process the student can click ‘save progress’ and return to the form later.
7: The student will receive an e-mail confirmation to their Kent State e-mail confirming the submission of their application, along with a link to check for the approval status of their application.
Note: Students should plan to bring a copy of this confirmation e-mail to their Destination Kent State orientation advising appointment to share with their academic advisor in case there are any delays in processing the application. This ensures that advisors don’t schedule students for courses they may already be bringing in credit for.
Part 2: Instructor Application Instruction.
After a student submits a credit application, that application will be routed to the e-mail of the instructor, or district representative, listed in step 5d of part 1; For the purposes of these instructions, that person will be referred to as the instructor.

What’s next?
After the student and the instructor have completed their portions of the form, the university will review all applications. The university is unable to begin this process until it has received a student’s final high school transcript, however all forms are kept on file, and all student admission files are frequently reviewed over the summer to ensure the most timely processing of applications as possible.
