Student Broadcasters Earn More National Recognition

When it comes to collegiate electronic media recognition, JMC students and independent Student Media are on a roll.

When it comes to collegiate electronic media recognition, JMC students and independent Student Media are on a roll.

College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) has announced its 2013 Student Production Awards finalists, and TV2 is nominated in two categories: Best Sports Sportscast for "Sports Corner" and Best Special Broadcast for President Obama's visit. JMC's Advanced Television News class is also nominated in the Best Special Broadcast Category for the "Kent Connects" show.

“When we're in the trenches during the production day or live on the air, we're making rapid decisions and using the skills we've garnered thus far to turn out the best product possible. It's validating and humbling to know that industry professionals and educators then look at the work we've created and think it's nomination worthy,” said former TV general manager Casey Braun, now a graduate student at JMC. “As practitioners-in-training, it's important to us that TV2 be as close to a real-world experience as it can. This contributes to that mission in a big way, and we're so grateful for it.”

Winners will be announced at the CBI National Student Electronic Media Convention in San Antonio in late October.
