More Awards For Student Media at Acp/Cma National Convention

The Daily Kent Stater and The Burr both placed in the top 10 in “Best of Show”.

The Daily Kent Stater and The Burr both placed in the top 10 in “Best of Show” at the Associated College Press/College Media Association (ACP/CMA) National College Media Convention last week in New Orleans.  
The Burr placed fourth overall in the feature magazine competition, and the Stater was ninth in the four-year daily broadsheet competition. TheStater also won third place for newspaper editorials/opinions in CMA’s Best of College Design competition for its post-presidential election opinion page.
JMC’s independent Student Media has a notable history in “Best of Show” competitions at the ACP/CMA national convention:

  • In 2012, the Stater took third place, The Burr took second place and KentWired.com took eighth place in their respective categories.
  • In 2011, the Stater took first place and the former KSUFashionBlitz.com took fifth place in the multimedia package category.
  • In 2010, KentWired.com took second place and Uhuru took fourth place in their respective categories.

The ACP/CMA national convention is the largest gathering of college journalists and advisers in the world.
