Compliance and Risk Management offers training in several areas, including Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Safety & Prevention, and Laboratory Safety & Chemical Hygiene. Trainings are primarily web-based, while some may be offered in classroom format. Customized training is also available for departments upon request. FlashTrain is the online training system managed by Environmental Health and Safety. With FlashTrain, university employees will be able to access online training sessions and register for facilitator-led training sessions.
FlashTrain can be accessed by selecting Employee / Resources / Training and Development from the main menu in FlashLine or via flashtrain.kent.edu.
The Fire Safety and Prevention Office provides training on an annual basis to various staff and students including security aides, resident directors, resident assistants, chemistry and biological sciences personnel and departments, student organizations, and contractors conducting hot work activities.

All faculty, principal investigators, staff, students, and volunteers who will be working in a research laboratory must complete safety training prior to beginning their lab research. Those using radioactive materials must also attend training prior to beginning their work; the radioactive training must be completed annually.
