    Biography

Jackie Mallon has 15+ years of experience of the fashion industry in both Europe and the U.S. She spent eight years in Milan, Italy, designing for the runways of Giorgio Armani and Moschino, involved in all areas of collection development, from tailoring and daywear to eveningwear, celebrity dressing and catwalk finale pieces. When she arrived stateside, she took up the position of head of studio in the New York office of Anthropologie before working for several contemporary labels which required her to travel extensively in China and India, sourcing and developing fabric techniques and embroideries. Alongside her teaching career she maintains links to the industry, designing on a consultancy basis for lines ranging from golfwear to bridal.

Jackie holds a master's degree in fashion from Central St. Martins in London. She currently teaches undergraduate fashion students at Kent State's NYC Studio, and regularly guest-reviews the thesis collections at Parsons. She is contributing editor of education for FashionUnited.com, a B2B fashion trade journal based in Amsterdam and read in 20+ countries.

In 2013, Jackie published "Silk for the Feed Dogs," her first novel; set in the international fashion industry and inspired by her experiences, the novel celebrates the uniquely colorful and eccentric characters notorious to our field. She is working on her second novel and in her spare time, she blogs about all things fashionable and literary at JackieMallon.com.
