CAED and Honors College Alumnus Dr. Michael Abrahamson (B. ARCH 2007, General Honors) won the Society of Architectural Historians 2020 Founder’s Award for his article “’Actual Center of Detroit’: Method, Management, and Decentralization in Albert Kahn's General Motors Building”, published in the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians in 2018.
The SAH Publication Awards honor excellence in architectural history, urban history, landscape history and historic preservation scholarship as well as architectural exhibition catalogues. Established in 1970, the Founders’ Award recognizes an article published by an emerging scholar in the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians that exhibits excellence of scholarship and presentation.
Publishing an article in the JSAH is by itself one of the highest accolades an architectural historian can earn and receiving the Founder’s Award is truly outstanding. The College of Architecture and Environmental Design is incredibly proud to see our graduates doing remarkable work.
Dr. Abrahamson currently serves as Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Utah. He demonstrates that our alums are using their CAED education to do internationally recognized work that extends well beyond practice.
