Jenna Van Coppenolle
Jenna Van Coppenolle is a senior biology major with a concentration in pre-medicine and a minor in psychology. She is excited about the summer research opportunity Kent State University’s Brain Health Research Institute is providing as it is giving her the chance to further explore a topic in which she has developed great interest.
“My research involves the effect the reproductive hormone ‘LH’ has on Alzheimer’s-related seizures and the genomic changes in an Alzheimer’s model that may be related to seizures,” Jenna said.
Jenna’s research sponsor is Gemma Casadesus Smith, Ph.D. of the Biological Sciences department.
Thanks to the Brain Health Research Institute and the generosity of those who support it, Jenna’s thought-provoking research around this Alzheimer issue can move forward.
A resident of Streetsboro, Ohio, some of Jenna’s hobbies include reading, baking, archery and martial arts.
