As part of Kent State’s Earth Month celebration, on April 20 from 1-3 p.m., people interested in how architects choose materials to design structures with a better earth in mind are invited to drop by the Belden Brick Materials Library, located on the Mezzanine level of the Joseph F. Morbito Architecture Library, Room 110E, of The John Elliot Center for Architecture and Environmental Design.
Students in Kent State’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design use the materials library to uncover sustainable materials to help the planet as they browse the extensive materials collection, which includes product samples from several hundred manufacturers specializing in items from bricks to upholstery.
This library is also the home of the Materials Connexion database, a leading global platform for innovative and sustainable materials used in all types of design, building and manufacturing.
Visitors are invited to take a free book for their personal library or to repurpose for a project. Items are available while supplies last. Refreshments will be served. The event is hosted by University Libraries and the College of Architecture and Environmental Design.
