Graduate Assistantships and Financial Aid

Many students in the program receive a generous financial support package, guaranteed for four years, that includes a nine-month salary, tuition, and health insurance. Current stipend levels are $16,000 per year for Ph.D. students. Students are funded as graduate research assistants, teaching assistants or teaching fellows--enhancing their ability to focus on their course work, teaching, and research.

Full-time doctoral students may receive up to 8 semesters of financial support so long as they are making adequate progress toward their degrees. Financial aid awards are competitive, based on undergraduate GPA, graduate GPA (where applicable), GRE scores, letters of recommendation, and a writing sample (where applicable). Financial need is not a factor.
