Summer 2025

Message from the Dean

Dear Friends,

As we reach the halfway point for summer, I hope you’ve have been enjoying time with family and friends, resting, relaxing, and recharging for fall.

The College of Public Health’s 15th anniversary presents the opportunity to connect with the many individuals who are part of our journey and to celebrate the multiple ways the college has played an important role in our communities.

I’m incredibly proud of what our students, alumni, faculty, and staff have achieved during the past 15 years, and I’m always eager to learn where they will go next. Take Christine and Nathalie, mother and daughter, CPH alumni, who both are making a difference in the community after sharing some time in Moulton Hall. Or Kerwin and Jordan, different stories but a common dream: helping others by becoming the best physician possible. And staff member Jamie, whose leadership and care were recognized with the Kent State President’s Award of Distinction.

Since day one, the mission of the college has been to advance public health by preparing leaders to collaborate with community partners to solve public health challenges through research and practice. Now more than ever, our community needs a strong public health system, and I am thrilled to announce that with the exciting changes brought by Transformation 2028, we will expand our mission by offering even more interdisciplinary opportunities to lead and innovate the public health field.

Please join me in celebrating the College’s 15th anniversary today and every day, as we honor our mission by putting our students first. You have an opportunity to support our students and, at the same time, to show your college pride by making a donation to the CPH Scholarship Fund. Your generosity will lessen students’ financial burden, and you will receive some new 15th Anniversary CPH swag, too.

Alumni, we're getting ready to launch a new CPH alumni survey this Fall. Stay tuned for more information!

I’m incredibly proud of our academic excellence, faculty dedication, and partners’ support. This milestone achievement was made possible by each of you, and I thank you profoundly.

Yours in good health,

Sonia Alemagno

Dean, College of Public Health
