Services

We have a number of programs designed to ensure that your proposal is of the highest quality possible upon submission. Whether this is your first time submitting or you have had many prior successful proposals, you may benefit from taking part in one of the following:

Team Building/Matchmaking

At its core, the Office of Research Development (ORD) serves to aid you in putting together the best possible research team. Do you need a statistician, a faculty member with a particular skill set, a regional clinical collaborator, or a nationally-recognized consultant to improve your research team? ORD can help identify and facilitate meetings with these individuals.

One-on-One Consulting

ORD staff is happy to discuss any aspects of proposal development, including team building, ensuring your team has the necessary expertise, writing, editing, etc. We work closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs to establish a realistic timeline, design an appropriate budget, and submit high-quality proposals. In addition, faculty may be hesitant to interact with program officers at funding agencies; the ORD can aid in these calls and help establish a critical relationship with individuals involved in funding decisions.

Budget Estimates

ORD provides budget estimates for white papers and letters of intent to external funding agencies that do not require a full Kuali record and internal approvals. Estimates are provided upon request and time-permitting on a first come, first serve basis.

Proposal Editing

ORD provides editing of proposal documents, primarily focusing on proposal abstracts and narratives. Editing is provided upon request and time-permitting on a first come, first serve basis.

Dedicated Assistance for Large-Scale, Complex Proposals

Contact us early when considering submission of large, complex proposals. For example, center or multi-project types of proposals take 6-12 months to prepare.

Limited Submissions

Limited submission opportunities are programs that limit the number of applications an organization is allowed to submit in response to a particular program announcement. When this is the case, ORD will coordinate an internal review and selection process to select the best-qualified candidate or proposal to represent Kent State University. Upcoming limited submission opportunities and internal submission procedures are posted on the Limited Submissions page and are announced through internal research listservs.
