January Social Media Recap

January is a month about new beginnings and a fresh start. We are excited to get the new year started here at Kent State and we’ve already had several exciting events happen on campus!

Let’s take a look back at some of our best social media content from the first month of the new year.


Starting with Instagram, on Jan. 18, the post promoting our blog recapping your favorite photos of 2019 earned the top spot. It garnered 1,261 likes, which is the highest engagement for the month.



Another post that performed well on our Instagram account was a photo from one of our followers, @davethelaxgod. This timelapse of a beautiful sunrise to sunset on Kent Campus received 735 likes on Instagram.

On Facebook, we celebrated National Squirrel Appreciation day with some love for our furry friends on campus. We shared this post from our Admissions account, earning 565 reactions.




Jan. 13 was the start of the spring semester. Our tweet welcoming students back to campus earned the most likes (165) in January.


Snapchat and Instagram Stories


With MAC conference play starting for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, to our celebration honoring the life of Martin Luther King Jr., we returned from winter break and got right to work by covering a variety of events on campus. The story that had the most engagement was the Scholarship Gala Concert, which gained 3,202 views (average per clip) on Instagram and 770 views (average per clip) on Snapchat.

52 new followers on Twitter
157 new followers on Facebook
215 new followers on Instagram
